Here are several life situations where someone might feel the need to pray for faith or for more faith:
1. Prayer for Faith When Facing Uncertainty and Major life Decisions
In this category, you can include the process of choosing the one you're going to marry, whether or not to pursue a certain career path, among other future plans. Here is a prayer regarding major decisions and when you're not feeling sure about moving forward:
Dear Lord,
I come before You now and lay the uncertainty regarding potential life decisions ___(name them) at Your feet. You say in Your Word, to trust in You with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding and that in all my ways, I am to acknowledge You. You will then make my paths straight. Therefore, I have faith, knowing that I will not go down the wrong path as I continually seek You for direction. You also say in Your Word that faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of God, and so I pray that You would help me make sure that all of my decisions are in alignment with the principles--the truths found in Your Word. Help me to have faith in the truth that my times are in Your Hands, and that any decision I make is a part of Your overall plan for my life, even in the midst of human imperfections. For you promise in Romans chapter 8, that all things work together for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. You are still faithful, for as You assure me in Your Word, You will never leave me nor forsake me. I give You all the honor, praise, and glory--in Jesus' Name, amen!
2. Prayer for Faith When Facing Health Challenges:
A person struggling with chronic illness, injury, or a terminal diagnosis may seek more faith to trust in God’s plan for healing or peace.
Dear Lord, I come boldly before Your throne of grace and honestly bring the struggles I've had in my faith since the diagnosis of this illness (Name whatever diagnosis---------------). You say in Your Word that You'll never leave me nor forsake me, and that You are my refuge and strength, an ever present help in times of trouble. Help me to lean on the truth that My times are in Your Hands and not in the circumstances surrounding this illness. You make clear in Your Word that without faith, it's impossible to please You. I want to have faith but need Your Holy Spirit, which You promise in Your Word would be my advocate to help me and be with me forever. Jesus says the Holy Spirit would help me in my weaknesses and intercede on my behalf with groanings that words cannot express. Even though I feel weak physically and struggling also in my faith, I remember Your Words from 2 Corinthians 12:9, which says Your grace is sufficient for me, and that Your strength is made perfect in my weaknesses. Please keep me strong in You, so that I continue to fulfill Your purpose for me in being a testimony to those around me.
3. Prayer for Faith When Experiencing Loss or Grief:
The loss of a loved one can shake someone's faith, leading to prayers for strength to trust in God’s comfort and the hope of eternity.
Dear Lord, I come before you in need of Your comfort and peace in the midst of grief. Lord, I remember 2 Corinthians Chapter 1 where You say You are a God who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. Lord, please strengthen me to conitnue to fulfill Your purpose for my life even in the midst of this loss. My faith has struggled as a result, but I am reminded that You will work everything out for the good of those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. As I experience this grief, help me to maintain an attitude of prayer, to boldly come before Your throne of grace, and to seek You. For You say in the Psalms, that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit.
4. Navigating Financial Hardship:
During seasons of financial strain, when resources seem scarce, you may need to pray for faith to believe that God will meet your needs.
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart burdened by financial struggles. I acknowledge that You are my provider, and I trust in Your promises. You have said that You will supply all my needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19), and I hold onto this truth.
Lord, I ask for Your wisdom to manage my finances well, as Your Word says that if we lack wisdom, we should ask, and You will give it generously. Please guide me in making decisions that honor You and help me be a good steward of the resources You have entrusted to me.
In moments of anxiety and fear, remind me to cast all my cares upon You, knowing that You care for me. Please strengthen my heart to seek first Your kingdom and righteousness, trusting that everything else will be added to me. Help me not to worry about tomorrow, but to rest in Your provision for today.
Lord, I also ask for opportunities and provision. Open doors for work, income, and resources that I may not see yet. You are a God who opens doors that no one can shut. Help me to have faith in Your perfect timing, believing that You are able to bless me abundantly so that I will have all I need.
Finally, I ask for peace in this season. You are my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. I declare that even in financial difficulty, I will trust in You and give thanks, for You are faithful to Your Word. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen.

5. Prayer for Faith When Dealing with Doubt or Spiritual Dryness:
If you feel distant from God, experience doubt, or struggle to maintain a consistent prayer life, you might pray for more faith to reconnect with your spiritual foundation...
Dear Lord, I feel so distant from You right now. I know I have sinned and the guilt has been overwhelming. I haven't had the motivation to pray. Yet I know Your Word says, that Your Lovingkindness endures forever. In Psalm 103, You say You are a God who is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. You do not treat me as my sins deserve or repay me according to our iniquities. Ss far as the east is from the west, so far have You removed my transgressions from me. Your love, O Lord reaches to the heavens, and your faithfulness to the skies. Thank You so much for Your grace and mercy, in Jesus' Name Amen.
6. Prayer for Faith to Remain Steadfast in the Face of Opposition
Whether at work, in family relationships, or in social settings, you may need more faith to remain steadfast in your beliefs despite opposition or ridicule.
Heavenly Father, I come before You seeking strength and steadfast faith in the face of opposition. When I encounter ridicule or persecution for following You, remind me that I am blessed. Help me to stand firm in my convictions and not be swayed by the opinions of others. Let my faith be deeply rooted in Your Word, so that I may remain faithful to You, no matter the circumstances.
Lord, Your Son taught that those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake are blessed, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Strengthen me with this truth when I face hostility for my beliefs. May I rejoice and be glad, knowing that great is my reward in heaven. Like the prophets who came before me, I ask for the courage to endure with grace and patience.
When others insult me, speak falsehoods against me, or challenge my faith, remind me that I am sharing in the sufferings of Christ. Help me to respond with love and not retaliation, knowing that my vindication comes from You. Fill me with the peace that surpasses understanding, and let my life be a testimony to Your love, mercy, and grace.
Lord, as I face these trials, teach me to love my enemies and pray for those who persecute me, just as Jesus commanded. Help me to reflect Your character in every interaction, trusting that You are my defender and shield. May my endurance and steadfastness bring glory to You and lead others to know Your truth.
I trust in Your promise that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Strengthen me to stand firm in my faith, wearing the armor of God, so that I may be able to withstand the schemes of the enemy. Thank You for being my refuge and fortress in times of trouble. I place my hope and confidence in You alone, knowing that Your plans for me are good. In Jesus' name, Amen.

7. Prayer for Faith While Waiting for Prayers to be Answered:
Long periods of waiting for prayers to be answered—such as waiting for a job, a spouse, or a child—can lead to feelings of doubt, and one might pray for faith to continue trusting in God’s timing. Faith is connected to the idea of waiting on the Lord, several verses of which are found in the prayer below:
Dear Heavenly Father, I lift up my situation to You as I struggle to wait for my prayers to be answered. Lord, in my human state, it’s hard to wait, but I trust in Your perfect timing. You remind me in Your Word that Your thoughts are higher than my thoughts and Your ways are higher than mine. I know You have a plan for my life, and I stand on the promise in Romans 8 that for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose, all things will work together for good.
Help me to wait on You with patience and faith, for as Isaiah 40:30-31 says, when I wait on You, I will renew my strength and mount up with wings like eagles. I will run and not grow weary; I will walk and not faint. Lord, strengthen my heart during this time of waiting and remind me that Your timing is perfect.
In Psalm 27:14, You tell me to “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.” So, I ask for that courage and strength. In the waiting, I remember Psalm 37:7, which encourages me to “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.” Teach me to trust You even when I don’t see answers right away, and to believe that You are working all things out for my good.
I place my hope in You, Lord, because Your Word promises in Lamentations 3 that You are good to those who wait for You, to the soul who seeks You. As I wait, help me to be faithful in prayer, trusting that You are always faithful to Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The Connection Between Faith and Waiting on the Lord
Waiting on the Lord is deeply connected to faith because doing so requires trusting in God's perfect timing and wisdom, even when answers are delayed or unclear. Faith is the foundation that helps us remain steadfast during seasons of waiting, knowing that God is working behind the scenes for our good. Waiting on the Lord strengthens our reliance on Him, and as we wait, He renews our strength and fortifies our trust in His plan.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You for the faith You have given me. I believe in You, and I trust in Your promises, but I know that faith can grow, and I long to have more of it. Just as the apostles asked, I too ask, "Lord, increase my faith." I know that without faith, it is impossible to please You, and I desire to live a life that honors You in every way.
Your Word says that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Help me to immerse myself in Your Word daily, meditating on Your promises, and allowing them to take root in my heart. Strengthen my belief, Lord, so that when I face trials, doubts, or difficult circumstances, I can trust You with an unwavering heart. Like Abraham, who did not waver through unbelief but was strengthened in faith, help me to trust You fully, believing that You are able to fulfill all You have promised.
I ask, Lord, that You would help me to walk by faith and not by sight. When I cannot see what lies ahead, give me the courage to trust in You completely. Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith. May my faith grow as I draw nearer to You in prayer, study, and worship. I want to trust You more deeply, surrendering every part of my life to You.
Lord, when doubts arise or when I face opposition, help me to remain steadfast in faith, knowing that You are faithful. Let my faith be active and alive, demonstrated by good works, so that others may see and glorify You. I believe, Lord—help my unbelief. Increase my faith, that I may experience more of Your power, Your peace, and Your presence in my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
