What does the Bible say about Jesus coming back?

The following is a list of verses in relation to the Bible and prophecy--specifically Jesus coming back, which provides us with encouragement as we wait for this restorative event...

1. Daniel 7:13-14: "I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed."

Summary: In Daniel 7:13-14, Daniel sees a vision of the "Son of Man" coming with the clouds of heaven. Just as Daniel saw the vision of the Son of Man's glorious reign, we are called to fix our eyes on Jesus and await his triumphant return with anticipation and readiness.

3. II Peter 3:10-13: "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells."

Summary: This passage speaks of the eventual return of Christ and the renewal of all things.

Application: Live with a sense of urgency and holiness, knowing that the world as we know it will one day pass away.

5. I Corinthians 15:52-58: In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: 'Death is swallowed up in victory.' 'O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?' The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

Summary: Paul describes the transformation believers will undergo at the return of Christ.

Application: As you meditate on the Bible and prophecy, live in hope, knowing that the struggles of this life will be replaced with eternal victory in Christ.

But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

Summary: Jesus urges believers to stay alert and ready for His return, as it will come unexpectedly.

the Bible and Prophecy: what are the signs of the end of time?

When it comes to the Bible and prophecy, beliefs about the signs of the end times, also known as eschatological beliefs, vary widely among different religious traditions. In Christianity, particularly within certain denominations, there are various interpretations of what signs might indicate the approaching return of Jesus Christ. Here are some common signs often cited:

1. Wars and rumors of wars: This phrase is derived from a passage in the Bible (Matthew 24:6), where Jesus speaks of wars and rumors of wars as signs of the end times.

2. Natural disasters: Many interpretations of biblical prophecy suggest that an increase in natural disasters, such as earthquakes, famines, and pestilences, will occur as the end times approach.

3. Increase in wickedness: Some believe that society will become increasingly morally corrupt and godless as the end times near.

4. Persecution of Christians: The Bible suggests that persecution of Christians will increase in the last days.

5. False prophets and false messiahs: There will be an increase in the appearance of false prophets and false messiahs, claiming to be the savior.

6. The rebirth of Israel: Some interpretations of biblical prophecy see the establishment of the modern state of Israel as a significant sign of the end times.

7. Global unrest and instability: Many believe that there will be increased political and social instability on a global scale as the end times approach.

8. The gospel preached to all nations: Some interpretations of biblical prophecy suggest that the gospel will be preached to all nations before the end comes.

9. Increase in knowledge and technology: Some see the rapid advancement of technology and knowledge as fulfilling biblical prophecies about the end times.

10. Signs in the heavens: There are references in the Bible to celestial signs, such as the sun being darkened and the moon not giving its light, which some interpret as signs of the end times.

It's important to note that interpretations of these signs vary widely among different Christian denominations and individual believers. Additionally, eschatological beliefs are often a matter of faith rather than empirical evidence, so interpretations can differ greatly.

May this information regarding the Bible and prophecy strengthen your faith as you move forward in Christ and eagerly anticipate His Second Coming!
